Hair Enhancement

Hair extensions are used for added glamour for special events or every day enhancement of your own natural hair. Many people look to hair weaves for various reasons such as fullness, added length, or to achieve a particular effect for a short period of time in between growth periods.

There are many ways in which a stylist can apply the added hair: Bonding, braiding (hand sewn) and fusion. There are upkeep and maintenance steps that need to be followed with each of these techniques in order to keep your extensions in good shape.

Using the hand sewn technique enables me to feel the tension of the hair when attaching the weft to the braid which is very important in helping to preventing damage. The braided method of hair addition also allows the scalp to breathe and remain non-agitated.

The bonding method of adding hair is very quick and is usually used for a short period of time because it is applied directly to the scalp, which if kept on for extended periods of time may cause slight thinning and hair loss. Although bonding has its set backs it is still widely used and gives that extra something to clients looking for a quick change.

Fusion has become more popular in the last five years, and it still the most blended way of adding length for longer than a few months. It takes color mixing of individual strands, and attaches them to a few strand of the natural hair to create a soft blended and “real” look to the hair.

Extension Maintenance

Using 100% human hair (without the cuticle) helps to prevent tangles.

Always use cool to lukewarm water keeping the hair straight when shampooing. Drying hair should be under a warm dryer and conditioner should be left in the hair. This is a must to keep hair soft and moveable. Check the quality of your hair before you use it because the better the hair the more natural and stress free it will be!

Margaret writes: “I’ve been in the beauty business for 20 years studying under Velma Brooks 1 of the premiere hair weavers in the state of Texas, and keeping you looking natural while promoting healthy hair has always been my mission.”

Note: A consultation is required before all extension services to determine the condition and technique to be used. Consultations are at no charge to the client.
