When we say “styling” the hair it is in essence really finishing. Finishing the hair is just as important as the preparatory steps getting to our final destination. The total look. The basics of finishing the hair can simply be summed up into three words: KNOW YOUR PRODUCTS!

Product knowledge guides us to get the maximum versatility out of your hair. I have spent many days struggling with hair that simply will not stay, move, or look good under any condition until I found the appropriate tools and product to do the job. This is why we use a variety of lines to service a variety of clients.

Let’s talk about setting the hair. Setting the hair preps the hair for the finished look. This can range from placing the hair in rollers, slicking the hair flat, using a dryer to curl the hair, or using products to get lusciously defined curls.

Products for styling act as a base coat for the hair. The base coat lets us know where our finished product is heading. For instance, if I am wearing my hair straight, then my base coat product will be something that smoothes the hair, tames fly-aways and creates a maximum shine. If my look is going to be messy, my products will give me support and a lift to the strands of the hair which will create a diffused look. My choice of products are endless, but not knowing what to use together might end up in just a sticky flat disappointment.
